iZotope Omega™ offers performance-optimized time stretching and pitch shifting for real-time systems like samplers and instruments.

Software virtual instruments struggle with the tradeoff of larger libraries and performance. One way to increase the realism of a instrument is to include every variation of performance style, dynamic, acoustic space, etc. for every note. As the number and size of samples increase, manufacturers must make compromises on the number of voices that can sound at one time. Though computer memory is always getting cheaper, not all users can afford to pack their systems with gigabytes of RAM. So, some users are left to use a subset of a sample library due to practical constraints.

To address the problem of enormous audio libraries, iZotope Omega is designed to provide quality pitch-shifting with merely a few processor multiplies per sample. The higher quality shifting allows manufacturers to include a subset of the audio samples and greatly reduce the memory footprint of a sample library.

Listen under the Sample Playlist for the original and pitch-shifted samples to see how Omega can optimize the size of a sampled instrument library. iZotope Omega is carefully designed to preserve the transient attacks, sound stage, and sustained material.

Additionally, iZotope Omega provides full automation allowing for realtime detune and portamento effects.

To obtain efficient operation at runtime, iZotope Omega allows a manufacturer to prescan and store analysis data on all audio samples. Leaving only the necessary steps at runtime, this pre-analysis enables Omega to be both high quality and fast.
